I just purchased a "Mad Cow" EH Titanium (2 weeks ago). It is barely 1 second fast per day ( about 1 second fast after 4 days). How can this be? This is my first automatic watch (after destroying MANY quartz watches over the last 10 years) and I assumed that it would be significantly off on a daily basis (by at least 5 sec.) . Did I buy a fluke, or is this something to be expected from a new watch? I guess my real question is, will it last?

William: First off, welcome to WTF! We do hope that you will decide to register and become a permanent member. As for your results, that is not unheard of in automatic watches. Some people have Ball, Omega, Rolex watches with the same results, and others do not. If a watch is COSC standard, the most it should be is -4/+6 a day. If not, the watch maker's (under warranty) will remedy the issue. Jeremy can correct me if I am mistaken; but, not all Ball watches are COSC, and the company's standards are -10/+10 a day. Congrats on your purchase. Please tell us more about it! And welcome to WTF!!

Automatics come in all shapes, sizes and accuracy rates. The best are within -4 to+6 secs./day (COSC) and the average ETA "out of the box will be within 10 secs/day. No two are the same. You came out on the better end of accuracy. To be honest accuracy like that is rare. I have had 3 out of many that were that good. Congrats!!

I just hope the accuracy continues. It is not a certified watch. I have no idea how long the watch was on the store shelf, it could have been years for all i know. I am wondering how long it will take for the movement to "break in." I guess after a certain period of daily use will be the time when I should take a true accuracy measurement. In the meantime, I am completley shocked by the watch's accuracy, and very happy with my purchase. The watch appears to be over-built, which I am happy about, having destroyed a luminox, swiss army, g-shock, and countless others. It appears to be one of the the toughest watches on the market. And boy, does it glow at night.

How on Earth did you ever destroy a G-Shock? Do you work at a steel mill and drop it in the molten lava? ;D

The g-shock was a late '80's model. I wore it everyday, without fail. Let's just say it was a tough watch, but not tougher than a 250 lb. Linebacker . ( note to self: take the watch off BEFORE you play a contact sport). Anyway, the luminox navy seal watch got so beat up, that you could hardly read the face. One day it just stopped. The jewler advised that the movement was damaged. The swiss army ultimately rusted (on the bezel) and stopped keeping accurate time ( i suspect the innards rusted too).
I don't work in a physically demanding job. I push papers around, and go to the court house from time to time. No heavy lifting at all. I am just really rough around the edges I guess. Keep in mind, I take the watch off for 10 minutes a day while in the shower. That's it. Otherwise, a watch never leaves my wrist. Whether I am swiming in the ocean, in the in the woods at 4 a.m. looking for deer, or building crap around the house, the watch is on my wrist. I can destroy ANY watch. The Ball will be my next victim. But it is still the toughest watch I have seen so far. I will keep you posted on its condition.

Hello William A very warm welcome from me too. Very good to have you share in the talk and fun we have in WTF. Like my pals here, I'm " G-Shocked " you destroyed a G-Shock but hey, tat goes to prove nothing man-made lasts for ever. Your EHT seems to be serving you well so keep flying the flag. Five of the last seven Omegas I have bought all kept to within +1 sec a day and the other two were just the other side of +1 so I think the technology in watch-making has vastly improved IMHO and as such am not surprised while delighted that your baby keeps such good time. Why don't you register friend and join us on a daily basis ? We'd like that very much Be well now ZIN Not usually shaken nor stirred ;D ;D ;D
