The Trainmaster Cleveland Express was the first Basel 2007 model launched, in April 2007. BALL Watch Company was founded to standardize time for the United States railroads. In recognition of our illustrious past we are proud to present our latest addition, the Trainmaster Cleveland Express, a classic chronometer. In designing this watch we used, as inspiration, a Ball 8-day power reserve vintage desk timepiece produced circa 1930.
The Cleveland Express was a high-speed route on the New York Central Railroad connecting the busiest city in the United States with the headquarters of BALL Watch Company in the then-bustling Midwest. It ran faithfully several times a day for the first half of the 20th century. | Clad inside the refined Trainmaster watchcase is a COSC certified automatic movement. Its superb accuracy echoes the pursuit of precision that lies at the core of our brand spirit. The influence of the BALL vintage desk timepiece takes form in the numerals and the use of the minute track punctuated with hour markers. The hour markers are BALL’s renowned self-powered micro gas tubes that enable unparalleled night reading capability. |
The slightly domed dial, finished with a radiant sunray pattern, catches light from every angle. Its simplicity sets a perfect platform to display the contrasting metal numerals. The 0.4mm thick Arabic hour indexes give a substantial feel and a three-dimensional aspect. The slicing and polishing process of the metal was a true technical challenge which was only resolved with exceptional craftsmanship and our passion for perfection.
Fundamentally, the Trainmaster Cleveland Express represents the very essence of BALL railroad timepieces at their best. Reference number: | NM1058D-LCJ-SL | Movement: | Automatic Cal. ETA 2836-2 with COSC certification | Functions: | Hours, minutes, sweep seconds, day and date; 15 micro gas tubes on hour, minute, second hands and dial for night reading capability | Case: | Stainless steel case with exhibition sapphire case back; diameter 41mm, height 12.5mm; anti-reflective sapphire crystal; screwed-in crown, water-resistant to 50m; shock-resistant – withstands 5,000Gs shock test. | Band: | Genuine crocodile leather strap (large rectangular scales, hand-stitched, matte color) or stainless steel bracelet. | Dial: | Silver or blue |

Love the silver and blue on the strap. Simple and elegant, yet still sporty. I need to get a Ball one of these days. Just have to find an AD that one can deal with.

Jeremy, Thx for posting this very nice classic watch. An interesting idea popped when I saw the desktop clock, how about a Ball desktop clock/pocket watch style similar to what Victorinox Swiss Army is offering? Make it chime, self-winding mech, with 3H?

Both versions are beautiful. I particularly like the raised Arabic numerals.

WOW I am usually not a fan of leather straps; but, I have to admit, that is a very STUNNING watch. I really like the dial, day/date, and raised numbers. That is a fantastic timepiece. Has a price been released yet, or is this product at the ADs or forthcoming?

Both dials are very nice. Yup, I agree. Absolutely stunning, both of them. I have a thing for blue dials - love all of them.. So for me to like the silver over the blue, that's saying something!

Jeremy: How much for a replacement leather or SS bracelet for the watch? For the board: I would like to look at this watch and may purchase one. So..........in everyone's opinion, when is the best time for a discount? Holiday weekends? Christmas? Day after Thanksgiving?

Jeremy: How much for a replacement leather or SS bracelet for the watch? Crocodile straps or S/S bracelet run around $220. It may vary somewhat depending on the buckle option chosen.
