I've just recently been given as a present a regulator w/both the rubber strap & titanium bracelet. I've checked out what these watches are going for and I have to say it a definite bang for the buck! It's thick and chunky and I love the way minutes/hours/seconds are split up the way they are. I'm not familiar with Oris brand. My question is that particular design w/the minute hand being dominant and second & hour hands having their own chrono-type set up, an Oris original design?

The Meistertaucher is a great watch - congrats! Oris was not the first to use the Regulator design, but they have been faithful to it and always seem to have at least one in their lineup. I have the XXL Regulator: I like it because it's a bit unusual, and it's easy to read. I usually know the hour, so I'm really only looking for a reading on the minutes, and the Regulator is perfect for that.

I actually found it a little hard to read at first glance but than I kinda licked the idea of having to stare at my new watch for longer than a second. This XXL of yours is a fine piece. Does XXL refer to it's size? What's the case size?

It's XXL for a dress watch I suppose - I believe around 42mm.

The layout of the Regulator is best applied on a dive watch because the minute hand is the only hand that matters during a dive. This is also the reason why Doxa (considered by many to be the ultimate dive watch) uses such small hour hands on its line.

Does XXL refer to it's size? What's the case size? XXL - big is beautiful Is what was in the ads for the XXL when they came out. They were big with 40mm and 44mm cases and were alluding to the big watches of the 1920's where watchmakers added loops onto pocket watches to transform them into the first wrist watches. Here are my XXL's Not so big by todays standards, but big in 1990 ;D
