Ok, so here goes... be honest, I can take it! I took this with a Canon 20D with a Canon 50mm f/1.8 EF II lens. Watch was in a light tent (cheap $39 one from local photo store) with two 500W bulbs lighting it up. I think it came out OK

Picture looks good. You may have too much lighting with the dual 500W lamps. I was using the same (see photo below of my prior setup, but I've since eliminated the right side lamp and replaced it with a small gooseneck desk lamp up above. The second photo was taken a few days ago with this new arrangement.

Try lowering your ISO...I suspect that's contributing to a bit of the grainy look the photo has. Other than that, it's a fine shot. Nice equipment - I use a 20D with the 100mm Macro in the studio.
