Hi Guys,
Is there one camera that is better than the rest? I have a Fugi FinePix 2600Z. It takes great photos but the Macro setting could be better. I would like to stay around $500.00.

I'm a Canon man myself. ;D

Hi John, Thanks, I too like Canon. I have a Canon 35mm SLR but film takes to long. The Fugi was my first adventure into digital and I love it! I am hearing good things about the Sonys and am tempted to jump-in. Thanks again. - Bob

I've got the same camera Oompa uses - a Fuji FinePix S5000, although he does things with his camera I can't seem to make mine do. It's got a great macro feature, and is fully adjustable.

I have a Coolpix 4500 (4M) and has great macro down to 1.66cm about 1/8th inch and it's full auto to full manual. You can see some of my pics further down the posts - but here is a sample: Because they are not 'new' - mine is 2 years old - they can be bought for a great deal on the price apparently.

Hi Guys, I sure like the photos Oompah posts and all of you Gentelmen have posted photos that are just wounderful. This watch photography looks like something I could get in to. Mike - I could do $156.00! Pat - Thanks for the information. I didn't know what camera Oompah was using. MartynJC - Took a look at your shots ... Fantastic! 2 years old?

Hi Guys, MartynJC - Took a look at your shots ... Fantastic! 2 years old? Thanks for the comment on the photo's. The Coolpix4500 (or E4500) was launched by Nikon in 2002. I can't remember exactly when I got mine, but it was something like 2 years ago. I have been taking pictures on and off all my life but the E4500 introduced me to true macro digital photography, first with B&W back in the '70s then, colour prints (remember those square Kodak prints), then slides, now digital and recently back to prints but from digital 'negatives'... I also have a snapshot Canon IXUS, which is great for carrying around as it's so small. Some example holiday shots are on my website: www.designmjc.com if you care to take a look. All the best Martyn

Hopefully it's useful... www.dcresource.comGood hunting! I found it useful to go to a decent photographic shop to handle some of these camera's. Hopefully where there are knowledgeable staff rather than just sales staff if you know what I mean.. Maybe write down what your criteria are for the camera to crystalise your thoughts. I found that technique useful.. Martyn

Good choice Bob. The lack of a manual preset for white balance may hurt you though when using it for watch photography with some lighting setups. Also there doesn't seem to be again in resolution when shooting at 6mp. The information above I got from reading the conclusion of the review at dpreview. The link to the conclusions is below. www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilms5000/page15.aspYou may want to read the entire review. On the whole it's still a pretty good choice for most situations. The comments above are related specifically to watch photography. Cheers, Henry
