The other forum(s) is the PMWF and BDWF Looks like you are a TV watch person. Nice to support Jim and the rest of SNBC. No wonder they are your friends... LOL J/K At least SNBC is entertaining versus Shop@home's shows. China China China. Can anyone say Chinese movement 10 times fast LOL I wish I knew a person I thought was a friend but my car salesman does not leave me in awe, just gives me a line on why I should buy the vehicle. LOL Just Jack Well, I support Jim as I consider him to be a friend...and not all of my watch purchases come from SNBC. When I got my square Russian Diver (chrono), Jim was able to answer some questions about the watch and give me some opinions on it. When I decided I wanted the watch, I found a better deal than SNBC through Elliot and DiamondShack (a vendor/sponsor here). When he helped me out with my Quinotaur Russian Diver, I ended up getting a used one that you could not tell was used...for about half the price they were going for on SNBC. Michael

I'm 54 years old and have been interested in watches before both SNBC,Jim,and Tim probably existed. It was my interest in watches and reading mags and searching on line that led me to this and other fora. I have seen many TV watch shows and purchased a few times from them but they don't figure all that much in my watch buying decisions. There is so much more out there than the limited TV fare.

Your so right! People tend to think SNBC and Shop@home are the only places that sell watches and Invicta, Renato and Croton are the only brands. I personally like watches from real watch companies and not a clearing house like Croton and Renato. Invicta does meet the watch maker label in my opinion since they actually own factories but the other two just get someone to make it for them. I could do that if I had the backing but then again, some watches Croton makes are so cheap I am sure I could finance it. Just Jack

The Watch Commander is the guy who got me started on the stuff, and then when I discovered Jim and Shawn, I really went nuts. WTF is the place I came to get more info and my phd in horology! And by the way, Jim and Shawn are great guys and have been instrumental in bringing lots of people into watches and forums.

I was flipping through TV channels and found SNBC Jim was doing a presentation on Invicta watches. And yes he did mention this forum on air. That's how I found it. I know that some think that a few members are "Star Struck" when it comes to Jim but I think most just trust him and his enthusiasm in regards to watch collecting. But what do I know I have never ever in my life had a person I respected a great deal and admitted it. Don't want anyone thinking' I'm having' a "Man Crush". Guys don't have those things you know.(Jim my friend. Just keep doing what your doing.)

I congratulate and admire all of us who got onto this watch collecting thing through different means. I find it neither sad or unbelievable that someone on TV could turn someone on to this hobby with a "sales pitch". And I encourage for all of us to go about collecting in our own fashion. There is no right or wrong way. The only wrong way I could think of is to change what you are doing because someone made you feel inferior. I find us a group of diversified men/women that have chosen a path that have many similarities and differences...I say let's enjoy our similarities and be curious, respectful and open to our differences. My Dad and Grandpa may have not taught me about watches, but they taught me manners.

For me, I was ACTUALLY channel surfing about April of last when I came across one of Jim's show. I had seen glimpses of Jim's shows in the previous months but finally decided to watch the whole show this time. From then on, I was hooked! Jim, does have the ability to captivate the audience and I think it has alot to do with his PASSION for ALL watches. Its also NOT about being some type of "fanboy". Its just very good to know that a knowledgeable watch host is like JIm is like one of us and actually participates with us WIS's in forums. I am yet to see or hear of any other tv watch host participate and please let me know if I am wrong. Also, I had already known about Invicta since I still had my original 8926 since 1992. Then through researching for some of Jim's Invicta reviews, I came across another forum then followed by this one. Nonetheless, Jim to a certain degree, REALLY got me hooked on this silly watch addiction even though it had always been lurky inside of me the whole time... ;D ;D ;D

Selling for a living requires training, skill, and dedication, and I believe it is a reputable profession.

I will mention that in a show last evening Jim mentioned that a forum member had asked about a certain watch brand and a modified version of it. Well last evening it was presented.
I will leave it at that.

I picked up on that koi and remembered your post. I wasn't brought to the forum by anyone as I had bought several watches before I ever so the first watch show. Since I started watching Jim and Shawn I will say I enjoy collecting more and brands such as JL and Philip are in my opinion pretty nice watches. Invicta always has some interesting pieces and rarely disappoint. Renato for a while seemed fresh and new but seem to have stagnated recently. I happened to stumble across this forum quite by accident but boy am I glad I did. Great people here. So different from other places I've stumbled across.

@birdman.... I agree with you about Renato. They were doing real well there for awhile. I know that I am one of several people here that own numerous renato models. Once the WB and T-Rex went away, I bid bye-bye to the brand. I am looking forward to the new Beast due out next year.
Newton & sons has the exact same watch design as the Beast, with the same ETA 310 for $100 or so. Philip has some very nice watches, most are autos. The brand is not well known here but well known in Europe.

SNBC and JS had nothing to do with me collecting Invicta. The Lupah Grand Dragon and the Ocean Ghost II are what got me hooked. Sometime later is when I found SNBC and the watch shows. I had been visiting this forum for a few years but never thought about joining until this year. I am glad I did this a great place to share and enjoy my hobby.
