I didn't get this latest one, but it's very similar. It was a Michelin and there's no subscription fee. It's portable, easy to read and hear and does use GPS(iIs there any other kind? I'm not aware of anything else, but I ain't aware of a lotta things) It was an OTV a few months ago. I'm very happy with it, but haven't had to use it very much. It's been pretty much, get up, go to work, come home, go to bed and then repeat the next day.

Actually Mark, it is illegal to charge a subscription fee on any GPS services. Charging a fee for traffic information to be routed to your GPS and analyzed by your GPS so it detours you is legal; but, for the actual GPS "service", that is free.
