I just got this blue Seamaster and loving it to death even over my SD. Anyway I want to know how long the watch will settle in because lately it has been reaching +6 within 3 days. This is a brand new watch. Should I just wait and see how it play out? Thanks guys

Hi Rummy, I got a 2254 over a month and a half ago. Out of the box, it was regular at -1/day. Strangely, the past week, it settled at -5/day. I'm not too sure why it's loosing more time. I didn't change my wearing habits and I keep it fully wound. I tried regulating it by changing it's resting position at night, but I have the same results whatever the position. Only exception, crown up, it looses 8 s in one night I know a COSC movement can do better than this, so I will have it regulated by Omega in a couple of months. For now, I'm watching it closely, maybe it will be back to it's original accuracy. I'm no expert, so we'll see what the specialist have to suggest. have a nice day

My Seamaster runs -1 per week since the day I put it on my wrist, so I am not sure there is a "breaking in period." Or am I wrong here? Neither my Rolex Sub, nor Omega have had any issue.

I have never had a watch "break in". What I get "out of the box" is where the accuracy stays.

I have " heard" of a break-in period , but I think other factors to figure into the equation that might be mistaken for a break-in. to begin, when I first bought my Omegas a wise man here told me " Omegas love to be worn" and I attribute this to the "adjusted for 5 positions" , just sitting in one position does seem to affect the accuracy of both of my Omegas. I also learned that when just sitting, one of mine likes crown up, the other likes crown down... neither like crystal up, or down. I got the hint from the COSC tests when I saw the results. another factor folks sometime attribute is a possible sharp knock to the watch could result in the need for a re-regulation. a buddy complained about the accuracy changing rather abruptly on a fairly new automatic watch and thought it was "just breaking in" but I observed he talks with his hands a lot and occasionally the case of his watch would make contact with the dinner table, he had no idea he was doing this.. these are wonderful machines, and may need to be regulated from time to time, but from what I understand the tolerances are so accurate and the lubricants are very advanced, break-in as we normally think of is really not an issue. re-regulation can be either way, enjoy them and care for them.... diver88 ;D

I was just going to ask this myself...
Good news for me as my new Planet Ocean has been running less than +1 a day. Can't say I wanted to see that change ;D
But maybe not such good news for the OP
