I can't believe these are the finalists of the original bevy of photos. I'll refrain from voting.

Gentlemen
In the event that you are not aware, the final three contestants had only three days in which to submit a photograph of the prize watch which is unfamiliar to them. Do contrast this with the first part of the contest when entrants had at two to three weeks to take photographs of their own watch. For your information our very kind sponsors wanted a two-part contest in this precise format.
Perhaps you wish you had entered. In any event I'm sure you'll agree with me that it would be nice as a community to enter into the spirit of the proceedings.
Best Regards
Houston

Let me understand, There was a photo contest with any style watch and then three winners then had to take photos of the watch that they might win?

I think it's great that we see three very different photographs with different styles and techniques.

I had to double check as I thought the first photo was of a different watch. Good luck to all entrants.

I voted for No. 1 over the No.3 for only one reason. While No. 3 provides a somewhat clearer view of the watch, it also has a distracting area of white space in the upper left. No. 1 has my vote by default.

I like them all. =) We might have to do something like this again. I think it really levels the playing field by having to shoot the exact same watch.
Best Regards,

I have seen some implications that the winners of the first round may not have deserved to win or that there were better pics...in whose opinion? They may not have been my favorites, but it is just a matter of taste.
From a technical stand point I can shoot an excellent watch photo, its not difficult, but what I lack is originality. What I take are basic run-of-the-mill pics with not much flare. The winners of the first round won because they took a few risks and shot some really good and original photos. I learned from it that it is not all about crisp detail, but about shooting the watch in such a way that you WANT IT...it doesnt just look like a shot for some instruction manual.
Now, moving on to this final round with the 3 pics in this thread...these guys did a great job of placing the watch in a setting that matches it. Much better than what I would have done.
The third photo is simply incredible...I would love to open up a watch magazine and see that as the inside cover ad...I would stare at it for hours.
All 3 of these guys EARNED the right to make this final round, so if you dont like any of their shots, dont try to muddy the waters with snide comments and general rudeness.
Congratulations to the 3 finalists....you definately deserve it!!!

I like that all three contestants take a totally different approach in their photo. They are all great photos. This has been a very fun contest for me to follow. I hope we do things like this more often. By the way... these were the first threads that my wife wanted to follow as well.

Bravo to all who entered, and to all who actually appreciated the opurtunity to take part in, this wonderful contest. IMHO ,despite minor gripings from some, this was a stunning success and whoever ultimately gets the watch deserves not only the prize ,but our applause. Congrats to the eventual winner, the sponsor, the participants and to WTF for a job very well done.(which in actuallity is rare!!)

Its interesting how the dial looks like a different color in each of the pics - golden brown vs slate bluish grey vs a hint of dark green. All the pics are great in their own respects.
