In another thread, one member states that the SS Rolex Sub makes a very good beater, although he acknowledges that not many would agree.
I do kind of agree with that, because many Rolexes are built to be rugged and pristine watches that are built for the rigors of the real world seem to be cheated out of the adventures on which they were intended to perform their appointed duty.
So, it seems that most, if not all Rolex owners must own watches that they fish in, or paint the house in, or work on the car in, or even attend black tie events in, or play sports in, or visit places where the streets are mean and expensive watches garner the wrong kind of attention.
So, let's hear it.
What other watches do you wear and upon what occasions do you wear them?

Hey gradyphilpott,
My daily watch (aka "beater") is a 1980s SS DJ. I don't explicitly beat on it, but I only take it off to wear something special and that has really only been in the last couple of years. I work in offices and don't work on cars or anything, but there was a time where I probably didn't take it off for 10 years. Work, swim, dive, workout, etc. I wore it for everything and didn't think twice about it.
It has picked up a few dings, but it still keeping approximately COSC time and it is still extremely presentable. I love it. If more people had my experience they wouldn't complain of Rolex being expensive. They claim Rolex represented good value!
I also have the Rolex GMT, a seiko, and a few military watches courtesy of Foghorn. I wear the GMT for a change or when I go out. The Seiko is in a sock drawer. The military watches I wear when I travel to the 2nd and 3rd world mainly for security.

My Rolex, whichever one i'm wearing on any given day ( Sub SD GMTII Air-King) only come off to shower, sleep, or ride my bike. They are all covered for theft, damage, loss etc so i have no qualms about wearing them at work or anywhere else. Besides, if you are uneasy about wearing a Rolex other than say a diamond encrusted Day-Date you're kind of missing the point in my opinion! :-)

There's not too many things I won't do in my Sea-Dweller - I wouldn't call it a "beater" per se, but certainly a daily driver.
Of course I've got several other lesser watches to wear if I were that concerned about damage or theft in a given situation.

I switch back and forth every day between TT Datejust and Sea Dweller. They only time I dont have anything on my wrist is when I am changing watches and for that split second, I feel naked.

Well, I don't have a specific "Daily Wear". I'll alternate between all the watches I own, which includes Seiko, Omega, Grovana, Tag, Breitling, IWC & Zenith in addition to my Rolexes. Though for heavy work (mowing the yard, painting, etc.) I wear a Luminox that's seen better days...

Casio Pathfinder is my main watch. That thing is phenomenal in all the stuff it can do. With the LV, I wear it a few times a week. I have a few other watches I hardly wear at all. Especially on the weekends. Don't really care what time it is until kickoff.

I alternate between my Omega Seamaster 2254.50 and my Oris Titanium diver. The Omega has good heft and is a little more stylish but the Oris is a really modern looking watch with a high polished finish. I've been wearing it more lately cause it's really light (titanium) I barely know it's there.
I've always been partial to heavy watches but I like the Oris a lot more then I thought I would

I currently swap between a TAG Classic 2000 and my Rolex SD as my daily wearer.
I have however had the SD on my wrist for the past 2 weeks and don't see any reason to change it.. ;D

My current beater is a Tissot T-Touch Titanium with a rubber strap.
I don't have a "daily driver" since I rotate between all my watches (Hamilton, Tag, Omega, Breitling, Rolex) almost always not wearing the same watch 2 days in a row. I wear what I consider appropriate for the occasion.
If I am doing yard work or painting, I wear a watch one previous supplier gave me a couple of years ago, it has their logo on the dial but I believe is a watch made by Citizen with a quartz chronograph movement.

Omega here too. I have two Seamasters for "daily wear," one black and one blue. Then, I have a Planet Ocean which doesn't get worn much.
The Rolex pieces are saved for special occasions for me. Granted, they are certainly tough enough to live up to my daily life of sitting behind a desk, but when I slip on a Rolex, it's so special to me that it really only deserves to show "face" at my most special occasions.
That said, my Dad's daily beater is a 15210 Rolex OP Date. He only has one watch (for now) and isn't bothered much if his Rolex gets a little dirty.

Thanks for the replies.
Being kind of new, I lost track of this thread for a couple of days, so it was nice to see the responses.
It seems that Rolex owners tend to wear mostly high-end watches when they aren't wearing a Rolex. That is, at least among those who feel that one watch is never enough.
Thanks again.
