Guy's these are so awesome, I am so pleased that I have joined this forum I know what you mean Paul. From the earliest 6542 to the latest 116710 the GMT is such a storied reference. Few watches have seen (and been a part of) so much history. If I were limited to one reference, it would be the GMT.

One of my favorites is the 16750. Making it's debut circa 1979-80. Rolex used this version to introduce the 3xxx fast beat movement to the GMT line. It was the first GMT to feature a true quick-set date while still maintaining the wonderfull acryllic crystal. Early versions came with the matt painted tritium dials before Rolex made the switch to gloss with WG surronds. Interesting that like most of "transitional" dials of the era, the matt 16750 had the "tall" coronet. This one carries a 6.2 mil. serial number, Latter versions, while using the gloss dial still maintained the acryllic look, You just gotta love that crystal!!

Wow those are great shots... You do know how to use a camera. I love the crystal and the dial. After reading the URL you sent to me earlier I have but one regret. I had a chance to purchase a white dial GMT but thought it was a fake and it was offered to me for $2500. Oh well next time I will pay better attention.

Man Paul, at that price I would be suspect too. These are VERY deep waters. Most that know the WHITE realize what it is and the premium it commands. The last one I'm aware of traded at over 100K. One very special watch, NOT MY PHOTO (Man I wish LOL!) What is also interesting about the 6542 is that that it's a watch that is certain configurations was actually recalled by Rolex due to health concerns via the radium used on early examples,

Mike,
That is exactly the watch the same dial and... Boy let me catch my breath. The thing that made me question the authenticity was the dial it just looks fake. Also the movement was a cal 1030 and the case was rusty and pitted like it had water damage. I am searching for her phone number and I do remember that her husband was a pilot. This was a watch at a garage sale. You are right about the photo it is beautiful and I especially like the recall sheet wow I didn't even know that Rolex did that. Sorry for rambling on .........

Paul, here's another photo of a known example. Disregard the obvious period incorrect bracelet. One thing to make very sure of on the dial is that the 6542 was an odd dial that used the date window to secure itself as it did not have dial feet.
