Interesting comments. I guess it is stories like this that make me worry news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/903599.stmOr another I heard that a pair of security investigators wore a fake Rolex to a certain part of Naples to see how long it would take to get robbed..it took 4 minutes. Though I am not sure that my ND sub would be as attractive as a Platinum DD, and I am always careful when I travel to note my surroundings, who is approaching etc. It is still disconcerting... I thought that IF I do end up traveling with it, I might put it on a NATO or ZULU strap, which might keep the watch under the radar since the biggest coronet on the watch is on the clasp, and that is usually the first thing that tips me off that someone is wearing a Rolex and not a Seiko....

That's a nice story, if a bit dated (2000). Thanks for the link. Guess I'll have to wear an Omega in central London...... :-P

I wear my watches all the time wherever I go. If you have a nice watch and not use it, it would be like those silly clowns who put 200 kms per annum on the odometer in a 430 Stradale... Just my 2c of course

Just my 2c of course Says the man from the city infamous for the Porsche 911 Turbo "Getaway" video..... Agreed, they need to be worn, but for me, circumstances and wardrobe dictate which watch will be worn on any given day. That said, I was playing around with my new GMT II last night. Man, that thing is huge! You hear my winder strain under its heft to move it around the path...

I happen to believe that it does not matter what you are wearing. I could be a Rolex, a Tag or even a Timex and a theif will steal. Anymore, you will see that many of Rolex's most famous watches have similar knock-off look-a-likes on the market, whethe rit be Seiko, Timex, Fossil, or another. Unless you know what you are looking for, they may look all the same to an average Joe who knows nothing about Rolexes and being able to determine the differences between a Rolex and another brand.
