hi just joined this is my first post i tried searching but didn't find a Citizen vs Seiko thread...but i know sometimes searches don't work too well on forum sites
so i own a Seiko Kinetic Arctura auto relay i just got it about a month ago. i have wanted a Citizen ecodrive for a while but the dials are always so conservative black white or dark blue that i haven't picked one up yet waiting for a nice yellow( none diver) or orange or light blue maybe it has to do with the solar light gathering surface not sure.
anyway cast your vote and leave any feed back

I like them both for different reasons. Citizen has been producing some really interesting Eco- drives as of late. A couple of mine......

My experience with ecc-drive is indifferent. I bought one for my wife, it eventually would not charge. I was told by several watch makers (including my trusted mentor Old Grumpy) to trash it. Not worth replacing. I'm with Mr. Wauters on the kinetic thing. I like the idea it is wrist powered. I think Citizen has a similar movement. And certainly the new Campagnola (?) line is getting rave reviews - even from Grumpy!

Hi there,
I voted for the EcoDrive because I have heard more about problems with Kinetics than EcoDrives. Also Citizen delivers affordable watches with complications like the minute repeater or alarm which I love very much. I will probably never be able or willing to spend the money for a watch with a mechanical solution of these complications. Just the idea of having a watch which is charged by the light is a good compromise for me between the mechanical and the quartz world. So in the end it is mostly just a personal decision. i go for the EcoDrive! :-)
Regards, muttenstrudel

In my experience, Eco-drive is vastly superior to Seiko's kinetic system. Simple, effective, and used on some great watches, with far fewer problems than kinetics.

You should check out the affordable Citizen Promaster Air Diver. The Eco-Drive calibres are pretty good. They have some higher end Eco-Drive that post great accuracy like the Exceed and some Attesa models. You wont need battery change for 20 years but you should come out into light once every six months for the watch to recharge. ;D

No Eco-Drives experience here but, two different pieces failures on two different Seiko Kinetic's ...no big money lost but, no confidence either ...curiously I learned that BJ's sale or use to sale refurbished Kinetics (I got one of those) when I complained they offered exchange of the piece or money refund immediately (I took the later) don't care much for quartz anyway so I vote neither
