Very durable, indeed. This watch is supposed to have a new and improved version, too. Has anyone made a comparo of sapphire and this improved crystal? I know that sapphire is almost impossible to scratch since I haven't scratched mine and I'm clumsy as hell. But lets say that you are standing still and you suddenly need to raise your hand over your head and in the process you hit some sharp metal. Will that scratch it? If you are thinking who in their right mind would do that. Well....that would be me. Not intentional obviously but the sapphire crystal after years of punishment doesn't have a scratch. How tough is this crystal?

I haven't scratched mine, so far. I have scratched plenty of mineral crystals in my time. I'll GLADLY experiment on Foggy's watch, though

Have you used it actively? And I dont mean use it work and I'm an accountant type of activity. But more like a install a ceiling fan, hammer something to the wall and clean your car type of activity. You see... I'm an accountant during weekdays and a slave during the weekends. If you can read between the lines it also says I'm cheap. So I'm looking for the best bang for the buck automatic diver watch.

My 6R15 is my official beater. I was wearing it while I changed a kitchen faucet a while back. Also used it while cleaning my bird cages and all sorts of other activities. I don't wear it to work.

I think I'm going Debaufre.

I have the Grovana, which is the company that makes the watches for Debaufre, which is just a rebadged Grovana. Very nice watch. I like it a lot. But the fit, finish and lume on the Seiko is far, far superior to the Grovana/Debaufre/Steinhart. Seiko has a much nicer bracelet, smoother bezel and on and on. I did a review/comparison of the Seiko 6R15 vs my beloved Invicta 2014 Diver, which is now in the review and reference forum. Hope this helps.

Okay, I'll give you my two cents:
Grovana: + Swiss Made ETA movement with very smooth sweep second hand. + Good lume. + Nice heft. + Comfy bracelet with screw links. + 300M depth rating. + Sapphire crystal. - Boring case back. - Uninspired design. - Middle of the road fit and finish. Good, but nothing really exceptional.
Seiko:
+ Killer lume. Nothing like it on any other brand. The best in the biz. + Exceptional fit and finish that rivals (but does not equal) Omega and other top-tier brands. + Exceptional bracelet with safety lock AND push button clasp. + One of the smoothest bezels I've ever encountered. + Very nice bracelet. - Automatic movement sweep isn't quite as smooth. - No sapphire. - It's BIG and thick (by my book 45 mm to Grovana 42 mm) - Love it or leave it styling. - 200 M depth rating (standard for a dive watch)
Both pieces are unique. You won't see a ton of 'em. Both cost about the same. Scott D just purchased a Grovana (blue dial) and is pleased. Foggy and I are the only guys here - that I remember - who own the 6R15. We are both delighted. I'd say the Seiko is more of a tool watch. It ain't flashy or sexy, but it is incredibly well-made with a stunning engraved caseback. The watch says quality. The Grovana says, well, mediocre - sort of. I'm sure I only confused you more. Now I'll suggest you look at the Swiss Made Tissot Seastar 1000 Automatic, which is in the same price range. LOL! Enjoy the hunt.

Actually I really appreciate your 2 cents. I'll search the Tissot now.
Thanks,

The Tissot was yesterday's Watch of the Day in the General Forum. Several members own 'em - you can see their comments.
