Hi all,
Finally, after months of waiting, I am the proud owner of (drum roll please......) a Superocean. Okay, so not the biggest, brightest Breitling, but I love it!
I flew up to our main city (Auckland) as there is no AD in Christchurch, and tied it in with a nice getaway weekend with the wife (hey, I'm not that selfish to have all the fun to myself ;D ).
First impressions: No picture can do the anti-reflective coating on both sides of the glass any justice, it is amazing. Most of the time it's as if the watch has no glass. I don't know if this is common with 'higher end' watches but I am suitably impressed!
The weight is perfect - I tried a similar model (the steelfish) on in the dealer's last time I was in the area, and was a bit daunted by the sheer weight of the steel bracelet, as well as the overkill on the 'bling' factor. Some people like it, but it was too much for me, and looked like it was trying to divert attention from the watch - not good. One other thing - I want to wear this watch as much as possible within reason, and the polished steel bracelet I can see would be impossble to keep clean/polished. So I have purchased it with the rubber bracelet, and got a great deal on the blue calfskin strap as well, if I feel like 'dressing it up'.
The quality is outstanding - I probably don't need to go into any details in this forum - you all already know!
Size also is perfect for me - the bezel ring plastic protector that comes with the watch snaps onto my Tag diver's watch that I've been wearing for the last 10 years, so it is exactly the same diameter - nothing to have to get used to.
Luminescence is great - Scott has posted some great pics of the lume on the SO so 'nuff said.
Okay - PICS. We love em here, so here's my contribution, taken as soon as I got back to the hotel........
Oh, and apologies to the forum member who posted a similar pic post as I am doing below (with some small differences), it was a good way to present the watch, so imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...... ;D
What's this - name looks familiar......
Hmmm, a Breitling box?
Nice design on top, incorporates the aviation tradition well.
(I wonder if I've posted it upside down?)
Yeah.... now that's quality
Open sesame, inside, another well presented container.....
Just a bit of a tease..... come on, show us the WATCH!
HEY!!! What the?.... Sorry ol' faithful, you have to share! Don't worry, I won't forget you. (and I promise to get you serviced, and a nice new crystal one day......)
Ahhhh, that's better
What a lot of stuff packed into that box!
I love that blue face.....
A bit of different light, a bit of a different blue...
Shiiiiny........
Anyone fancy a bit of leather?
Feeling blue?
Details, details.........
Thanks for indulging me ;D
It has been my pleasure to share my Superocean with you, and I am proud to be the newest member of the BBB club!
