I just bought a Canon SD850 IS so I took a few quick snaps of my Ikarus. I used to use an Olympus SP310, but I was getting tired of the focus taking so long to lock down. I was missing tons of shots of my two year old son. Drove me nuts. The Canon is pretty sharp. Nice little macro range of about 2cm which beats the Olympus at 5cm. Higher ISO possibilities, of course, the Canon goes up to 1600 while the Olympus topped out at 800 (?). Anyway, nice little inexpensive uprade. I was actually a trigger pull away from buying an SLR. Phew! I'm glad I didn't. Way too much camera for this bozo. White balance..Schmite shalance... Today's wristware was...

It looks like you're really geting a handle on that new camera!
A high ISO is nice for low light and/or fast subjects, but for the best quality, you want to lower the ISO as low as it will go. You would typically use a tripod for that type of wotk, so it doesn't matter usually...
I run my EOS-1D at 200 ISO noramlly, and for macro or other critical work I drop it to 100 (as low as it goes- which requires setting a custom function) to reduce the noise. The noise becomes more noticable on Macro work.
Keep it up!
