I re-cropped it a bit, centering the date window. I did a color overlay of Pantone 175C at about 30% opacity. I played with the contrast and sharpness quite a bit, tryng to get that just right... I'm not totally happy, but I think the general idea comes across. I did a bit of work on the dial at ~11:30 where that glare is- I toned it down a bit and re-created the index lines (poorly) where it was overexposed a bit. I began working on the light spot on the page, just under the lug near the 7:00 position, but that was geting way too involved...

Nice work; thanks for the explanation of your processing.

Thanks for the compliment!
I normally don't get this involved with "post processing" as usualy a bit of contrast and brightness adjustments will do the trick, but this was a fun little project.
One word of advice I'll throw out there: make a copy first, and modify that (or work in layers) so you can always "go back to your roots" so to speak.

I always do that; in fact, I usually shoot in raw+jpeg so I never really lose the original...

I do the same (RAW + JPG) for the same reasons...
The jpg's are easy to work with an e-mail as proofs; then I can sent ONLY the RAW files that are used to save time and space...
