Can anyone recommend a good, but cheap disposable underwater camera? It will just be for shallow shots, no deeper than 5 - 10m Not bothered about a model number etc, just a manufacturer, ie Konica, Kodak, Fuji etc. p.s. If you have replied to this question that was part of a post in the Omega forum don't bother replying again. I check back there on a very regular basis but not so much here. Thanks in advance guys and gals

Hey Fergie, Well in my experience they're all about the same. And none are great.... If you truly want disposable, go with a Kodak or Fuji, they seem to be the most reliable in my expediences. Another option, though not cheap, is a digital underwater. Pentax makes 2 models (in the US they are W20 & W30, the W10 is another older one you can find pre-owned) and it does a superb job. Water proof to 10-20 feet depending on the model, and shock & dust-proof too. I took one on a cruise last year and was very impressed with the quality (7mp). It's also a small point & shoot so great for times you don't want the larger camera. Very user friendly, my wife loves it for her picture taking because it's so easy to use (she hates my DSLR ) and we take it to the lake with us. Anyways, I think they are around $200 US, but the way I looked at it is after about 15 uses it's paid for when you compare to a disposable & development...

Can you show us some example shots? I ended up going disposable when we went on our cruise and was disapointed.

I did get a underwater disposable along with my APS Kodak for our honetmoon to Gozo a few years back. On the penultimate day, we realised we had lost (or had it stolen )the Kodak, with all the photos on it from the past 12 days and had to use the disposable underwater camera. The pics were quite good actually. The few shots I took under the water were ok, but the water was a bit "milky" as there had been some high winds and the sediment hadn't quite settled. But for the life of me I cannot remember what brand it was.

But, for $10, I guess you can't ask for everything.. Sure, I'll post a thread of a few of them in here later today.. But, you've seen most of them.. All the water shots I've posted have been taken with that camera... ;D

Hey John, Here's some of the pictures taken with the underwater digital. Camera is an Olympus Optio W10. It's no longer made, the W20 & W30 have replaced it.. Only difference is MP's though, and I think the 30 goes a little deeper... Here's a couple of outdoor pics.. Does a good job on land too! Pretty good camera imo, especialy for the $160 we paid for it. Given I took probably 150 shots underwater with it, very close to paying for itself.... It's small, fits in a front jean pocket, has a 2 1/2" display and gets at least 250 shots to a battery charge! Only issue is indoor shots aren't that good.... But, it's a camera clearly made for & market as an outdoor camera.... I highly recommend it to anyone. PS, while waterproof, it does NOT float. Let go of it, it'll sink like a rock. But, to compensate for this I attach a "key floaty" (like you have on a boat or wave-rummer key, can get at any sport store or walmart for a buck) to the hand strap and that works beautifully. If you let go, it floats to the surface...

A great one is the SuperOcean as Rick & others will attest or the clean no-date Crown, as GJ will confirm... Now you KNEW I had to slip that in there...... One more, just for you pal.... (do make sure you look at the clock behind the fountain.. )

Just to go back to the original question. I managed to get a Polaroid one at the last minute. Depth rating of upto 10m which is what I wanted. Now the water was a bit murky (due to the 20-30mph winds). I need to get it developed and when I do I'll show you the pics.
