Mr Pugwash Many thanks for the video. Very nice of you to do this. Hitherto, my only picture editing tool was iPhoto but I've recently made an attempt at using Elements. Needless to say, I'm a mere baby taking baby steps. I'll slow down your video and take further baby steps . I'm sure I'll get there or thereabouts, not quite in quick time ( 'xcuse the pun ) though. Appreciate it Best WIShes ZIN

If you use the left/right arrows on your keyboard, you can go frame-by-frame. Look at the history palette on the right to see what's being done. I'd post a better video, but it's of a dodgy watch and I don't want to break the rules here.

Oh, and I use much cheaper equipment than anyone ever guesses.

I'm currently using two different programs:
1) Paint Shop Pro X 2) Image Expert 2000 3.3 (I've had many years)
I'm sure PSP can do it all, but there are a couple things that IE2000 seems to do much better: cropping photos, and compressing image files.
For cropping, IE2000 creates a four-sided inner window you adjust around your desired subject, whereas PSP requires you to draw it yourself, which can be tricky if you're trying to create an image with certain proportional dimensions (like a 400x400 shot for eBay).
On compressing files, I guess I need to read the instructions more because the compressed files I've created using PSP result in bad image distortion.
I'd sure like to use just PSP. The two programs don't co-exist very well (i.e., system lockup) so I have to close one before moving to the other, which is a real pain when you do several iterations. Oh, well...

I've never heard of or played with IE...interesting. It came free with my Dell Dimension computer about five years ago. For cropping and compressing, I like it a lot better than PSP X. It's just a hassle. I think IE 2000 came from Jasc Software originally - - I don't think it's been sold for several years now.
