Why can't sales events be written about amongst members that do not include Jimmy? Jimmy is a good person and only tries to help and it is obvious to me it is not about money or SNBC with him. I hope Jimbo appears where his polite posting about SNBC events and previews are ok. Jim I mess ya Jack Jack - I think I've adequately already answered your question. Sorry this doesn't meet with your approval. Keep in mind that SNBC could easily (and quite innexpensively) remedy this situation if they so chose by becoming a paid advertiser here.

Maybe Jim can purchase a banner or whatever he needs to do to advertise?
SNBC is lame and we need Jim! What if members paid for it?
Jim.. come back... That other forum is crap and we love you here

WTF needs to incorporate user subscriptions, I'll pay and send the signal to the sponsors that capitalism is alive and well, WTF start the quarterly subscriptions with features that free users will not be permitted to use. Look into investorshub.com subscription platforms to separate the premium/free users, I'm a hub premium user. investorshub.advfn.com/boards/about.asp

I would pay to be a member of this site if it meant being able to talk freely about any purchase experience, or even make the donation option available for the good of this site.

That other forum is crap and we love you here Jack Sponsorship is easy enough and cheap enough for SNBC if the "wanted" to do it. But that is the rub, they obviously do not "want" to. Or better put, I am sure they feel they don't "need" to. And, if we are giving them first looks for our business and we advertise "free" for them by posting their info, they are right. So with that as a course of action, the "little" guy that actively participates in this forum and/or gives us discounts while contributing $$ to help this site run gets ignored. That is just not right. Don't know if you are into racing but if you are could you imagine Tony Stewert winning a race in the "Home Depot" car and while taking the trophy he says, I want to thank my team for setting up this great car. It was fast all day. Thanks to you at Home Depot for your support, we put your car in the winners circle today. And, oh yeah folks, I almost forgot. If you go to the Lowes web site and put in coupon code ou812 you will get 20% off your purchase." I don't think so!

I spent all night last night and the night before going over almost every post Jim has done here. I can truly say I am shocked as I had a different view then before reading these enlightning posts.
At this point I apologize to the owner of this board for me pressing the issue of wanting Jim to freely post.
Jim is a salesman and that is it and really has not contributed much other then talking about what SNBC sells or what he has designed for a SNBC vendor . I know that may make some people mad but do what I did and really read the posts and you may just change your mind. It is not me who changed my mind it is the posts that did it for me.
Sorry
Just Jack

Sorry Just Jack Hi Jack. As this thread got longer and longer I think it moved somewhat away from the original intention of the thread. Certainly the thread was not an anti JS or anti shopnbc or any other vendor thread. The thread simply pointed out to all of us that there are vendors out there that take some time and cash to support us. With that in mind, it is simply not kosher for any of us to be posting info of assistance to the vendors that do not. IMHO everyone that has done such did so with the greatest of intentions and wanted to make us members aware of certain deals that may exist, never thinking about any conflict that could incur with any of our sponsor members. It is good to see that you take such an interest in what is going on here. That can't help but make your interaction here a more enjoyable venture for you and the group. Keep having fun and enjoy all the cheese. ;D

I'm confused???
If a vendor supports the board and advertises here it's OK to discuss that particular vendor? And if they don't it's VERBOTEN?
Hmmmmmm
Kinda hard NOT to mention SNBC when they probably sell to most of the members here AND outsell all the brick/morter and internet stores combined.
If it were not for SNBC I probably wouldn't be here.
I'm sure INVICTA is in love with SNBC.
Not being able to discuss Invicta's PRIMARY distributor kinda is like shooting ones self in the foot on a discussion board that is all INVICTA

If you go to the initial post to this thread on page one by one of the admins it is better put and explained than I can. It is not that SNBC can not be mentioned, it is that we do not do things that in fact would lead to free advertising to them and frankly, that is not fair or right to our paid sponsors. SNBC is well aware of this forum and could if they wanted become one of our sponsors. As I stated in the beginning, go back and read the original post. I think that more than clears up the air on the subject.

Thanks for the welcome!
I've read the whole thread, several times as a matter of fact and I'll stand by what I posted because as a newbie here it was a little difficult to figure out what could and what could not be discussed.

I gotta say, the more this position is explained, the odder it seems. I am no lover of SNBC, but if it weren't for them, there would be no other sponsors. And I am searching for the motivation that an outfit like that would spend advertising dollars on a watch forum. We probably represent such a teeny tiny portion of their customers, not to mention the fact that we rip them apart and expose every weakness that they have, which are many, but most customers by far will never know about.
Not trying to make trouble, just think its becoming an interesting thread as members ask for clarifications.

watchrob: let me take a shot at making it clear. 1) it's okay to discuss shopnbc. like: wow did you see the new XXX model the other night. Seems great. Or I hate it. blah blah. 2) it's not okay to say. SNBC is offering a great deal on the xxx model. And link to J000000000. Check it out. 3) it's okay to say NBC has great prices and customer service. Or to say it stinks. 4) it's okay to discuss what happened on the shows. It's pretty straight forward and doesn't just apply to snbc. Out of courtesy to the sponsors, we shouldn't link to overstock, amazon etc. It's certainly OK to mention WHERE you bought a watch. Hope this helps.

Earlier this week there was a piece on NPR about dwindling book review sections in newspapers around the country. Only a handful still print them because they're not profitable.
Some of them tried to force publishers to advertise if they wanted to get their book reviewed in the paper. So instead of objectively covering the latest literature they would feature the ones that paid.
This reminded me a little bit of what's going on here. Our sponser's ads are all over the site and I've probably clicked on most of them. I especially appreciate the ones that offer a discount for WTF members. But, it's a big market out there and it's sad that in an open forum we're partially restricted from talking about it.
