Invicta Forum Members,
I would like to remind everyone that ShopNBC IS NOT a paid advertiser of WATCH TALK FORUMS, and in deference to those dealers who do support this site financially to keep the lights on and the doors open, we do will not be discussing the comerical aspect of SNBC here on WATCH TALK FORUMS. This would include linking to the SNBC website, listing J numbers, discussions of their sales events, etc.
We realize that Invicta and SNBC are becoming increasingly intertwined - it will be difficult in some cases to talk about one without talking about another. So not all SNBC topics will be considered off topic. An example of this might be Jim Skelton mentioning a new model debut on the show. This really isn't somethng that's a disservice to our paying sponsors as most new Invicta product debuts on SNBC before it gets in other dealer sources hands. So when a new model debuts on SNBC and you want to talk about or make mention of it, fine. We'll consider it an Invicta commercial for a watch you'll be buying from one of our Invicta Forum sponsors when it becomes available. ;D
The Admin Team understands that not all will be pleased by this stance, and that many of you left another watch forum over similar issues.
Understand too that I like Jim Skelton and consider him a friend - I've known Jim for several years. But SNBC has been approached to become a paying sponsor and it was communicated that they do not wish to support WTF. That's certainly their option. But in all fairness to those dealers who do support our community, we cannot allow WTF to be used as a vehicle to promote SNBC.
Thank you for your understanding.

@jbhii I just got around to reading your post and I simply wanted to reply saying I understand and agree with your position. It goes without much thought this forum would welcome sponsorship from any legitimate dealer and therefore the option to support this forum is either accepted or declined by the same. It also goes without saying we should all respect the old adage, "don't bite the hand that feeds you". We owe our support to those that support us. We owe nothing to those that do not. Thanks for informing us about this issue and thanks to the administrators of this forum for you work.

But a similar issue has come up in the past. More than once. Yes, many sponsors to read and participate here on WTF.

May I suggest a thread supporting our sponsors? With a thank you to them. Look, we all realize that price is a big motivator. I try to buy locally when I can. I have two friends that own jewelry stores and the truth is the web prices are so far below what the CAN sell for, my watches almost always come from the web. However, when they have a sale and get close, even if a few bucks more I buy from them. Also, they get a lot of my non-watch business. We should look at our sponsors the same way. They are supporting us. They in affect are, our friends. The others while maybe good business's are, strangers. What I am suggesting here is when we are in the market, go to our friends first. If you are only talking about a few bucks difference, support our friends. If the difference is quite a bit, even they understand the decision to buy elsewhere. Also, many like to have that second chance and would welcome a price comparison opportunity. However if you are going to do this make sure it is apples to apples. I would never contact a sponsor business (that offers returns, warranties, etc.) and ask them to price match an auction item. These sponsors do us a service by supporting this site. We owe them at least a first look. And you know what, if more find out we are doing this, we may just get more sponsors and better prices in the long run. And, that ain't bad! You know what? An email of thanks to these sponsors from our members would not be a bad idea either. I think I may do that now. It only takes a very small amount of effort and time and if they heard from all of us, that would be something! Of course, all this is just MHO. ;D

'bender, I have personally communicated with two of our Invicta sponsors inviting their more active participation here on the Invicta Forum. To date, since I have been the co-admin., neither has really gotten involved.
Perhaps after the first of the year with some new and exciting things scheduled here, we can come with some ways to get them more involved. While many members think sponsor involvement is spelled DISCOUNT, I think there are additional things that would add to their role. I know Tom Carey, a non-Invicta sponsor pops in pretty regularly on the General Forum with tidbits, opinions, and the occasional deal or discount on his line of watches.
Certainly something for us to chat about in the near future.

They don't have staff to help, so they do everything themselves...which doesn't leave time for forum chatting.

My two cents: While I'd love the sponsors to participate - to get to know them as folks not just vendors - it's enough they support our playground.

How about making light of SNBC's shortcomings, with a dual-intent of common conversation (aka bashing) AND to drive people away from SNBC to other vendors (hopefully ones that back this site)

First, I must say that this is a great place to hang out and discuss watches. I am pretty new here, but have found it a welcoming and thoughtful place. I agree that promoting sales events and j numbers from Snbc is not compatable with supporting your loyal advertisers. However, there are aspects that I hope you take a lighter stance on, as it relates to that outlet. If I were in the watch business, I would want as many people as possible watching those shows. I believe that they(as I will refer to Snbc from now on), create markets that aren't currently there, and expand markets that are. Watching enthusiastic presentations make people want to collect watches. The good thing is that they do so many things wrong, that discussions about that aspect could enhance the number of hits to the banners that you have here. Of course, you and your advertisers are the ones who decide this, I just wanted to bring my perspective to the mix. Thanks again for a great forum.

Why can't sales events be written about amongst members that do not include Jimmy?
Jimmy is a good person and only tries to help and it is obvious to me it is not about money or SNBC with him.
I hope Jimbo appears where his polite posting about SNBC events and previews are ok.
Jim I mess ya
